About: Dunna is a special mare to us. She was the first foal from our Foundation mare, the first foal born of DS breeding and just stunning. She is one of the prettiest horses you could find with a build and brains to do just about anything. She is a superb cowhorse a brave jumper and wonderful mover. In her early days (before HF) she placed in most of the events she entered and was one of DS's biggest winners. Dunna is sweet and lovely to work with but she has a sassy side which she shows when working cattle (ie dominating the cows). She has inherited a great work ethic from both sides.
Her sire was a champion cutting and cowhorse in the game Dunna was born in. He was considered the top Quarter Horse in his game for many a year. He was also royally bred with his sire being the famous reining stallion/sire Hollywood Dun It and his dam being by cutting champion Freckles Playboy.
Peppy Dunna's dam was our foundation broodmare and all of her foals showed well in the old days. Peppy showed great promise as a cutting horse as a 3yr old sadly a trailer accident ended any chance of a show career. Peppy was a sweet mare with a really pretty head and incredible conformation which she passed on to all her foals. She was by the famous Peppy San Badger out of a Canadian bred mare who was full sister to the 16.1hh hunter stallion H.S. Thirty Thirty. Frenchie was only 15.2hh but was a lovely pony club horse and broodmare.
In 2003 Dunna was added to our broodmare band. In between producing foals she has been used as a working ranch horse and trail horse. She is calm and brave on the trails. She has also proven a wonderful mother and consistent producer of athletic foals. She tends to improve upon whatever stallion she is crossed with, just like her dam.
Dunna's 2015 foal was recently weaned and she will be going back into the showing world. We will be doing some penning with her as well as Western Dressage. Due to her age we are no longer showing her in the more strenuous events.
